Sista Surge Media

Sista Surge Media reports on the state of the global female condition. We seek journalism that uncovers the underreported, analyzes the systemic, and records the history of womyn as it happens. We do not publish fluff pieces; we publish only the reality of the global female condition.

1. News Stories (Reported Pieces)

We look for objective, fact-based reporting on events impacting women’s rights, safety, and economic status.

  • The Inverted Pyramid: Lead with the most vital information (Who, What, Where, When, Why). Details and background should follow in descending order of importance.

  • Word Count: 600 – 1,000 words.

  • Sourcing: At least two primary sources/interviews or credible data sets (government statistics, NGO reports) must be cited.

  • Global Lens: We are particularly interested in "News from the Margins"—stories from rural areas or developing nations that mainstream media ignores.

2. Opinion & Analysis

Our opinion section is a space for radical feminist thought and structural analysis. We want arguments that move the needle on womyn’s liberation and female self-determination.

  • Requirement: Opinions must be rooted in the material reality of the female sex. We look for clear, persuasive arguments, sometimes, with a specific "call to action."

  • Word Count: 750 – 1,200 words.

  • The Hook: Your piece must have a "news peg"—a reason why this argument is relevant now.

  • Evidence-Based: While these are opinion pieces, they must be supported by material facts and historical context.

3. Written Interviews

We feature long-form interviews with women who are leaders, survivors, or groundbreakers in their fields.

  • Word Count: 1,000 – 2,000 words.

  • Format: Q&A style preceded by a 200-word biographical introduction.

  • Focus: Focus on the subject's work, their contribution to the female community, and their perspective on the challenges facing women today.

  • Ethics: Written consent from the interviewee must be provided upon submission.

Language & Tone

  • Material Reality: We use precise, language. We refer to womyn and girls as a distinct sex class.

  • Active Voice: Write with agency. Use "The policy harmed womyn" rather than "Womyn were harmed by the policy."

  • Short Paragraphs: For digital readability, keep paragraphs to 3–5 sentences.

Submission Process

  1. The Pitch: Send a 200-word pitch to news@sistasurgemedia.com or by using the form below. Include your proposed headline, a summary of your main points, and your list of sources.

  2. Formatting: Submit final drafts in a .pdf or .docx format with editing access enabled. Use AP Style for punctuation and dates.

  3. Fact-Checking: Every claim must be hyperlinked to a credible source. If you cannot verify it, do not include it.

Compensation & Rights

  • Exclusivity: We only accept original work that has not been published elsewhere (including personal blogs).

  • Payment: Rates are determined by the complexity of the report. Beginning in 2027, standard news pieces start at $150.
